Is that the real figure? CMP says they spent millions re-crating them, treating the stocks against insects, purifying some of them from asbestos contamination, etc.
I expect they were costly compared to other batches.
That said, CMP makes a tidy profit and reinvested it into world class shooting ranges around the USA where they run JCG matches and service rifle competitions.
I wish I could go to those with no fuss, I'd be all over it. The Yanks do some things really well.
