I think that the CMP's day's are numbered for selling M1 Garand Rifles. Since they receive them from the US Military, Obama can put a stop to it. He will look "soft" on semi-automatic's if he let's the CMP sell them while prohibiting AR15 etc. The Clinton Gun Bill will be back with more restrictions. Canada copied the American restrictions on imports when the Liberals brought in the new Firearms Act.

The CMP, used to receive their Garands from the US military warehouses but haven't for a long time. They are now bringing in M1s that, to my knowledge were purchased from the US and not Lend Lease.

They come from countries like Italy, Denmark, Norway and Turkey. There is some debate concerning the surplus firearms from South Korea as well. The debate hinged on whether the rifles are Lend Lease or whether South Korea purchased them. So far, it looks like South Korea purchased the vast majority of them, after the Korean War.
