CO2 pistols for kids. Anyone know a brand or model that's worked for them?

Hey guys,

I credit HALO more than my own efforts, but my 3 oldest kids (boy and girls, ages around 8-11) ALL really want to get into shooting, specifically handgun shooting.

I'm looking for the closest thing I can get to a glock, but in C02, either BB or pellet, and with a small enough grip for 8-year old girl hands to hold comfortably.

Never had a CO2 gun as a kid, as the cartridges were too expensive. Now, if it'll help my kids have fun trigger time, I'm gonna buy them by the pallet load. :) :).

Also just before I start scouring the vendors on here, are there any on here that sell something like this?

Happy New Year and thank-you!

Might be worth looking into airsoft as they usually have better replicas.
Not sure about Glock bb guns but there are a ton of airsoft Glocks, 1911s, M&Ps etc.
Electric airsoft rifles are pretty great too

I have a few nice ones. Nothing fancy. Just oem off the shelf examples.

Full metal full auto KWC 92

THose are sweet! I want one, haha!

Actually never considered airsoft till now. One of my son's buddy's brought his m4 over once. it was pretty cool (battery powered, I guess?) It would full auto spray clean across our yard.

Yeah my kids all want to shoot all the time, and every time their friends come over they're asking about the guns. I want to have some 'less than .22' firearms and guns around to give all these kids as much trigger time as I can.

I have one of the Umarex Glock 17 Gen4 Blowback BB pistols & it's great.

And as 45CAT notes above, bb's bounce all over, so make sure the kiddos are wearing eye pro.

Cheers
Jay

Best Glock BB CO2 replica IMHO is Umarex Glock 17 Gen 4. It's even can be field stripped as real Glock. Close next comes Umarex Glock 17 Gen 3 and Umarex Glock 19X. They are not field strippable and slide doesn't go fully go back. Cheapest one is non blow-back Umarex Glock 19. There are good reviews and comparison on ht tps://www.replicaairguns.ca/

I teach my kids trigger control and proper shooting techniques with my vintage Crosman pellet guns. The revolvers are close to the same weight as real steel. I have a 38T and C in .22, a 44 peacemaker single action .177, and a 454 bb-matic bb pistol. I also have many paintball guns and a Airsoft pistol.

It’s nice to be able to take new shooters closer to the targets than your able with a .22 rim fire. We shoot soup cans and playing cards and the kids love it. Target shooting is what you make it. I make sure my kids always have fun so one day they can teach their kids the same.

I just bought a sig P226 mk25 air and it's great!
It use pellets and is quite accurate, around 1.5"@ at 10y. I can shoot around 50 shots per CO2 cartridge.

I would stay away from C02 repeaters, and get a really accurate gun single shot ,that they can learn how to carefully savor each shot. Cabelas has a Stoeger Pneumatic for 39.99 on sale right now, and it is more accurate than guns costing many times more .It shoots pellets that don't ricochet like BB's, and is much safer for your children. That being said I bought my first pellet pistol when I was around 8 years old, and it was a Crosman similar to a "2240 C02 pistol" in 22 caliber. That gun taught me how to shoot handguns, as I am good with one to this day.

What will be the first of several purchases I think, went with the Umarex MnP. I wanted the blowback feature more to help train the kids with the function of a pistol. *not everything's in stock these days. Sort of had to settle, as I wanted to get this goin.

Seeing all the options on this thread, makes me want to buy about 3 or 4 more of the suggested ones.

We're treating this like it's a real pistol. My wife and 5 kids are going to be proficient, no exceptions., and until I can get da gub to approve my little .22 home range for pistol, the bb guns will have to do.

If your kids will want any kind of accuracy, consider the Crosman American Classic (pump - $90) or 2300T (CO2 cartridge - $250) in .177. Both single shot, for safety. Or if you have more money to spend, a Weihrauch 45 or 75, $600ish. If that goes well they'll probably want an actual match pistol, eg the Pardini Kid, getting close to $1,000. Good air pistols are more expensive than firearms.
