Alright, I hear the Baikal coach guns are of good quality from my research.

Was just wondering if there is any other external hammer/ejector sxs's out there that are cheaper?

Not so patiently awaiting your responses as I want to buy one!!!

hehe,

Thanks guys! :)

Beware Baikal have two coach guns one with fake hammers and another with functional hammers.

Thanks Buster! I'm not sure why a company would do that, but they do. I am interested in real external hammers.

Anything else out there that's cheaper, not the Dominion Arms Outlaw either?

Baikal has a model with non-functioning hammers that are priced lower than those with functionig hammers. Not sure if those have ejectors...very likely extractors. Alternately, the Norc hammerguns will cost less compared to the former.

Crazykayaker:

Are you sure they are non functional? I have a Norinco SXS and the hammers seem to come forward and strike the firing pins, but then rebound to the safe position. Is it possible that you think they are non functional since they return to the safe position? There are marks on the hammer that looks like it does indeed hit something. Mine you, I've not taken it apart and had a look at it though.

Stoeger coachguns have internal hammers and extractors only. At least my 20ga does and all the others I've seen. This is the second time in a short while I've heard someone mention Stoegers with external hammers. Do they have a new model out?

Thanks everybody. As far as I have seen of the stoeger's they are just internal hammered models as well.

The external hammers are a pretty important point for me, as there is no way to make internal hammered shotgun safe with one in the chamber as far as I know..

I'm guessin that Baikal is just about it that's available then!

Just gotta swallow and make the purchase then I guess :D

Thanks again guys.

You won't regret the decision. The KH43 is a well built hammer gun (I owned one)...both bbls are CYL though. Works very well for birds in the thick bush. I used that as well as the hammerless version.....mentally kick myself each time for trading the later recently.

Interesting. I talked with the multiple sales men and they all said the hammers are just for show you do have to pull them back to #### but they don't strike the pins if properly SET. I've also got to play around with one and I asked the owner if they were real or just for show since we all know 90% of the sales men are just pulling out of their ARS. So the owner put a piece of paper on the firing pins(?) pulled the trigger and...No Mark. Past that I have NO IDEA maybe it's an age of the gun thing the new models are fake. Just passing on what I saw.

The hammers on a Norinco sxs are functional. Put a piece of paper between the hammer and the firing pin and it will puncture the paper.

Then the gun I was shooting wasn't a Norinco cause it wasn't breaking the paper. Though I could have SWORN the guy said it was the Norinco. Though I did wonder why the wood was so nice cause the other norinco's I checked out had plain wood.

I want one of those chinese "Colt 1878" replicas that everybody is selling down in the States.

I went through the same scenario a couple weeks ago, but ended up getting CZ Hammer Coach....so far it is impressive, I just liked the look of the case hardened receiver a bit more than the Baikal, the decision ended up being cosmetic and teh fact that I found the CZ in stock in Calgary (Canadian Tire).....the Baikal was sure tempting though at nearly 250 lower in $$$. Either way, we both ende3d up with very nice coach guns!
