Hey Guys,

Has anyone try and chrono Xmetal bullets? I was told they need 10-20% less powder to achieve the same velocity as plated or jacketed bullets. I find that claime a little optimistic is it true?

Cheers

Don't know if it's practical but could you try separating seating and crimping into independent operations? Seat your bullets without any crimp at all in one station and then crimp in the next station. The bullet is already in place before n you crimp it might not have that bulge you're getting now.

^^^ This is your answer, seat first then crimp after. i have to do this for some of the powder coated bullets i make.

Hey RePete, I've tried to raise the seater die and lowering the seater inside to get the same oal. Tried the Dillon carbide seater, Redding comp seater and now an old Lyman I have lying around. I Need the crimp to completely get rid of the flair at the case mouth. Can you be more specific?

I'm getting better results with a lyman seater. It doesn't seem to be as tight as the other 2. The rounds almost chamber check with the Xmetal but Ares not at all

By the way none my seater dies crimp, my crimp is done separetely
