A friend had the small heater in his gun safe burn out and being super busy at work etc ..... By the time he noticed it he had a little rust on a couple guns. He has cleaned things up with fine steel wool but there is some fine pitting that re-blueing is not going to cover. Any suggestions on the best way to repair this ? There are a number of protective coatings that are being applied to protect guns. Is there one that might cover some small blemishes?? Thanks for any input.

Rebluing doesn't cover anything. The metal has to be prepared, and that would include removing any pitting.
A baked or catalysed coating should hide slight pitting. Blasting and bluing or Parkerizing would as well.
Personally, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it, nor would I spend any money. Just use them as is. Cosmetic issues don't affect functionality.
