Still researching firearms and was wondering if I purchased a CZ75 for production and standard, Could I start stages cocked and locked when pitted against single-action only handguns like 2011's? Or would I be forced to start hammer down like the Production division and be at a disadvantage? I read the IPSC rule book and didn't find the answer.

No if you are shooting in standard you can start off cocked and lock just like any signle action pistol

actually in Standard he could start hammer down on one stage, cocked and locked on another, with no penalty. Only in PD do you have to start hammer down.

Awesome, thanks for the answers. I haven't ever attended a match (just started shooting in January) and I'm slowly working towards joining IPSC for next season.

Understood. But I am researching a handgun that would allow me to shoot in as many divisions as possible and maybe even be competitive. I'm new to shooting sports and want to know if the CZ75 would be a good choice as my jack-of-all-divisions pistol. If I get good at it, I'll consider investing in division specific stuff but right now, I'd like to keep the costs reasonable.

the best advice i can give you is pick a handgun, pick a division and work at geting good at it. while there are a few Master class shooters that can do well in different divisions, us mere mortals have to work our butts off just to become meddling to fair in on division. they also use d a different gun for a different divisions.

the CZ 75 is a nice firearm, however if you are going to shoot it in standard division get it in 40 cal so you can shoot major.
