Anyone know what or where I can find the COL of a 105gr. Berger VLD Match for a 243 Winchester. I cant seem to find it and havent heard from Berger yet.

The measurement will depend on your rifle, how it is throated, and how you want the bullet situated relative to the leade. If you are going to use the magazine that will also be a factor.

I'm having a rifle built. The gunsmith would like a loaded cartridge to take measurements when cambering the barrel. I plan on using both Berger 105gr and Sierra 107gr.

Berger will give you a general COL, which is the same as the cartridge general COL i.e - 2.80" for .308 win, but Berger will also tell you that you should, ideally, find the specific COL for your rifle and have your bullets seated so they actually touch the lands on your rifle.

It all depends on you gun actual land distance. This can be measured with an OAL gauge or an home manufactured device.... a resized case with two relief cuts (made with dremel) on the side. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow.

If you're looking for accuracy .010 to the land will be a starting point, but if you're looking for hunting load don't bother, load to reloading book spec unless you have pressure signs.

O.K. did a little more research. "#### theres a lot to learn." I'm waiting for Berger to send me their official COL for this cartridge but from what I can figure the ogive is longer or set back farther on the Berger than the Sierra. Which then makes me believe the chamber should be cut for the Sierra and the Berger when loaded can be seated farther down in the case just off the lands. Either that or the Sierra has to be loaded farther out to meet the lands. I hope I figured or explain it right.?
