What's with the notation that "not revolver, 45acp friendly"...?

There "are" divisions for both revolvers and .45's....

when is a match ever revolver friendly

You should only be competing against the other revolver shooters so... It's an even field.

That said... I've held many matches where a revolver shoiter has bested everyone else.

As with most shooting games... It's the shooter not the gun.

One suggestion for the guys hosting this match...
Get your paws on "Practiscore".
It's a fee app. (iOS and android)

By far the easiest way to score/manage a match.
I used it fir the last Team Hoser/ODPL match at Colby and it makes scoring and squadding a breeze.

Unfortunately we can't do that -there are rarely a sufficient number of shooters for each class to make distinct.
Regardless, the purpose of the note is to let you make an informed choice. As I said you can shoot whatever you want (within ODPL rules). The match favours pistols with 10 rd mags which I think is more realistic.

That's true... There are very few revolver shooters these days, but all you really need is two.
That said... I'm sure if any revolver shooters attend... They won't place last.

Not my match, but... I've always ignored making any stage "friendly" towards any particular type of hardware.
From the beginning we've tried to make ODPL an as much of a "run what ya brung" game.... 'Cept for lights mounted on guns*... That's just wrong..Lol

*Friendly jab at acrashb if he happens to be reading this ;-)

Just so you know this is the first match we have run together and we decided to keep things simple and reasonably easy on ourselves for our first time around. After that we will decide what to do or not to do and what other areas we want to expand into. All we are trying to do in advance is give everyone a heads up for the stages we have planned to run. In the future (if there is one) we may look at different stages and setups that may accommodate more of a variety of shooters. This was not meant as a slight to anyone who shoots with less then 10 rounds in their mag just that the course of fire MAY be trickier for those that decide to shoot something else.
How about the next match we run you can come out, help us design the course of fire, assist with setup and teardown, RO and scorekeep for the day and then we can insure it to be more revolver friendly.

LoL... No thanks. 'Do plenty of that already.

You missed my point. Actually I think you may be missing the entire spirit of the "ODPL match" as originally intended, but... Whatever you want to do is your perogative. All trigger time is good.
We set the league up to be as open source as possible so I guess "if" an MD wants to give a heads up as to whether or not a match is "friendly" towards a particular gun... 'Go for it.

Hmmmm...I thought the spirit of these matches/leagues was a place for a bunch of people with a common interest could safely have some fun. You're right. I must have missed that.

And this is at Colby? Forgive my asking a stupid question, but do they just set this up at the indoor range? I'm new to all this, and would also be interested in coming out and watching.

Cannon

Yes, this is at Colby at the indoor range. You are welcome to come out and observe, but note the gallery is not that big at Colby so it could get cramped back there.

Of course, but...
Again... I think there's something being lost via the written word here. Probably more easily conveyed in face to face conversation.
Anyway... its good to see others getting involved and hosting ODPL matches... More matches equals more opportunity to get out and shoot.
As for helping out... If asked sooner I certainly wouldn't mind lending a hand.
'Have run many matches and don't mind warning others of some of the mistakes I've made.
Unfortunately I have a previous commitment.

I'll reiterate though... If you want to save a ton of work... get the practiscore app.
install it on a smart phone, tablet or ipad and bingo.
You'll be way ahead and better able to focus on running the match.
Shooters will appreciate the ability to see the scores immediately.
