With these cold temperatures I really wanted to get out so after getting home I gathered my gear and rushed out the door. I arrived at the farm rather late (4:50pm) and knew I was pressed for time so rushed over into my setup location. I placed the ecaller/decoy about 25 yds into the field slightly off to my right. With the strong winds I knew I needed to get the sound way out there. After 10 mins of screaming my lungs out I started using my ecaller and let it scream out there too.

Hunting coyotes for a number of years now has made me realize coyotes don’t always come from where you expect them so I find myself looking over my shoulder ever few minutes just in case.

After 5 mins of screaming dying rabbit with my ecaller I see this coyote come in from behind me. She reaches the edge of the field, stares at my decoy and begins lifting her head in the air as to test the air. With my gun sitting on my shooting sticks facing the opposite direction I dare not move. After 10-15 seconds or so she does not like what she sees/smells…..so she turns to run away. I lift my gun off the sticks turn and wolf her at the same time; she stops behind the brush/tall grass….. I find a little opening through it and drop her in tracks less than 10 yds away…. :)

Enjoy the pics…

Good shooting with my luck experienced would have been long down a valley. Had one sit for a long time studying me then just took off into a valley with no shot fired but I'll be back.
