I've got a Stag with an A2 stock on it that I want to change over to a collapsable version. I'm unfamiliar with ARs, but other than the actual stock can I just use the parts in the stock and just get an extension tube? Where can I get an extension tube if they're still available?

Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I think any stock can fit a 4 or 6 hole tube that has the proper dia. The only difference between the two kinds is the number (and location) of holes made in the tube's spine. (from a pic I've seen in the AR book vol. 2)

What about the 6 position and 4 position tubes? Do all collapsible stocks fit either or?
Yes. The only thing to look out for is commercial vs milspec diameter.

Having said all that, try for a 6-pos. More adjustable.

To replace the A2 fixed stock with collapsible stock you need the following (aside from collapsible stock) :)

- buffer tube matching your stock - commercial / milspec
- castle nut
- receiver extension plate
