Geezus, David… really??? I mean… REALLY??
Can I touch them?? Do you have like, a petting zoo or something ??
No??? Why not??!!
Great thread, and just the right place methinks, to ask one of my trademark silly questions…
I just bought an almost new L1A1 off the EE a while back, which I would have to guess is actually unissued and unfired… it’s in THAT nice shape… so now that I have a true, mint FN, I find myself with a bunch of parts I got from Int’l Firearms WAY back in the early 90’s when these little darlings were legal.
Sooo… I have all this sh1te that I do not need:
Her comes the dumb question ( because as a 12.5 holder I SHOULD know this )
1) Can I LEGALLY build up 2 nice dewat L1A1’s from all this crap? ( Yes… by myself ! )
2) What are “The Rules” I have to work to? We have heard that “####&Click” is now Verboten here in the Peoples Republik of Kanada, but I am a pretty decent welder… all I need are the guidelines on HOW to do this. Where to find such a compendium of précis?
3) Too bad… the Aussie “kits” are mint… barrels are mint…shame to weld them up, but like everyone is saying here, the day will probably NEVER come that we can fire these ever again. AND anyways…
4) … they are British receivers ( Enfield and BSA ) but with Aussie lowers… so really, they would never amount to anything remotely “collectable”… even if I could have pieced them together and found the Magic Shire selection of Locking Shoulders to play Mix-n’-Match the headspacing with… on what could ever be a couple of “Franken-FAL’s” .
5) So once I welds them all up, then what? Are they automatically de-registered? They WERE just stripped receivers… so what’s the procedure to get them re-classified as good-lookin’ boat anchors so I could sell them on the EE.
6) And finally, a quick, curious, question… why is one of those Resin plastic “Replicas” prohibited? WTF…am I missing something here?
Wouldn’t a Dewat, by definition, also be a “Replica” ?
Thanks for any input you might have… I just can’t see myself just rolling over like a good little peasent and turning the receivers over to “ La Surete” so they can melt them down.
