I took a little extra time from a recent roadtrip to divert from Rock Island Arsenal (45 minutes north of Simpson's) to go see Simpson's seeing as how I was in the area. (for those interested I have posted a few hundred pictures from Rock Island and Springfield Armory in the photo forum).

The folks were very nice at CF, and as for the discussion on here about the high price of the Mondragon in 7mm Mauser, their prices on books were absurdly low, so much so I bought some collectors books I didn't even care about just because of the low prices.
As I walked around I saw two Liberators (genuine ones, not the newer repros), and commented you don't usually see more than one at a time, at that they whipped one out for me to look at).

I asked if it was ok to take some pictures, and was told as long as no one was in them, sure. It made it a bit hard, and with customers there I didn't want to be to obvious, but managed a few of the 'high end' display, with various minatures, including the mini g43, luger and 1911.

As for stock, frankly I was blown away. Its been never that I have seen a milsurp stock like thiers here in Canada. 3 Swedish Cavalry carbines (IIRC), racks of Lee Enfields, K31s (meh, see them here enough), various mausers, French rifles, etc etc.

If I had 25K to blow on guns I would have passed on the Mondragon (the 5,8 is the only one for me), and bought a truckload of their 'cheap stuff'. If you are in the area, I recommend it.

I wonder how many of the Springfields, Carbines and M1 Rifles came from the CMP. Liberators supposedly were never dropped. At least not in Europe.

Thanks for all these photos!

I enjoyed all of your threads, great 'walk around'.

I wish we had such shops here. Too bad about the 12.6 tragedy, I think it killed any chance of a true collector firearm shop.

Funny to think that a Liberator pistol or Luger needs to be prohibited! Lugers are relatively large handguns with a lot of Canadian history too.

I love to go to places like that just to see the more obscure firearms. I can't imagine paying something like 25000$ for a rifle though, just because if I paid that amount I wouldn't have the heart to shoot it and that is half the fun.

I was thinking about the newer Liberators that were being built, if they put a slightly longer barrel on it would be Canadian compliant. I think on my trip I must have seen 10 or so, they seem to be at a lot of museums. Springfield Arsenal had a chromed one at that (also a lot of Volks Rifles and last ditch guns that they do not have on display).

Great pics and post! I browse their website quite often for K98k's but most of the ones I've been interested in had issues so I haven't bought anything yet. Definitely something for everyone there though.
