Well if he want an all matching luger of that barrel length that works, then yes it is impossible for now...but there are alternatives to neutering a beautiful gun
Artillery Lugers. Restricted in original condition. And that all matching dewat doesn't work either.
It isn't difficult to get a licence for a restricted firearm. Time consuming, but not difficult.
Fenceline, you seem to be missing the fact that the P08 only has a four inch barrel and is a prohibited firearm, only obtainable in working condition if you are grandfathered or able to inherit one.
It isn't an artillery luger.
I get that most lugers only have a 4 inch barrel. Getting a licence for those isn't possible.
Getting a licence for "these types of guns" in matching and functioning condition isn't possible either if only considering the 4inch types.
I was saying the quote was inaccurate. Either way you want to define it or limit what "type" means.

did collectors source do the deactivation? I have had them deactivate for me in the past and they do a really good job.
I was referring to getting a luger where you need a prohibited status. Considering very few Canadians have a prohibited status, thats why I said its quite hard to get one.
Exactly my point.
Easy if you have a 12.6 or 12.7. Impossible if you don't. Deactivated isn't the same as an "all matching" shootable gun. It isn't hard to get a Luger, if you are willing to get one with a replacement barrel, as it isn't hard to get a restricted licence.
But saying "it is hard to get a licence" if you are referring to the exact prohib version is incorrect. Either you have the prohib licence, or it is impossible. Otherwise, an un matching restricted type is easy.
That is all I was saying.
there is a guy who manufactures legal replacement barrels and will do the job too. but he is not cheap, but then legal shootable luger is worth it in my eyes vs deactivation. Looked into having one done, but the deal fell through and I never got the gun.
Isn't its still possible to get a grandfathered status? Also can't you get a prohibited status if you open a gun business?
I get what you're saying though about getting a luger with a restricted status, although as you mentioned, that would be modifying the gun.
Thank you for the clarification though. At the time I made the video, I actually wasn't aware that you could alter a luger so that one could own it with a restricted status...thats why I had said it was very hard to own one live.
Possible to get status individually outside of a 12.7 inheritance? No.
As a business. Yes. But that would be owned by a business, not an individual and it wouldn't be "grandfathered" status.
