i just got my first set of collet dies and have been playing with them a little. they are redding 284 win dies. i used an expender mandrel to neck up 6.5x284 lapua brass, when i checked the runout on the necks they varied from 001" to .006". from what i have read .006" is not good. i proceeded to run them through the collet die to see if it would change the runout and it did not. will this correct itself once they are fired the first time? also how do you guys set up your collet die, do you tighten the decapping assembly down so it holds the bushing tight or do you back it off a little so the collet can float around? thanks

all brass will fire form to chamber if it is cut true less runout, as for the bushing I always left mine a 8th of a turn so the brass can find its way and self aline the bushing . see ya on the weekend
