colour/paint suggestions for SKS stock?

I finished mine only yesterday. I bought Krylon khaki but it was a disgusting grey, nothing like what the cap showed, so I refinished it with krylon Italian olive. I had to use loads of filler to get it somewhere near the mark, and about six coats of primer before the open grain was covered properly. It still ain't perfect but it's a lot better than it was.

a little change of plans

well I got a little carried away with the sand paper and before I knew it I was going the staining route. I decided to stain instead of paint because the wood stock feels like it's saturated in some preservative/oil crap and didin't want it to bleed through. Plus it looks pretty decent. and in the future I could paint it up really nice if I like. oh and I need to sand the (original chinese) stain off the gas piston wood handle thingy. It is a different type of wood from the stock, is that normal?

Thanks for the insperation of this thread...some very nice SKS posted :D . Also want to thank whoever made the SKS sticky thread with that great vid on how to break down an SKS.

I did mine but didn't take a whole bunch of time wit it. It's just my yote gun so I didn't need it fancy. Wanted to go with a desert camo look but my base came out too bright. Also don't really like the camo pattern. My GF is an "artist" so she figured she could do a good job.

Lesson learned....Artists DON'T KNOW CAMO :p ..oh well..she knows I wasn't realy happy with it so it frees up an excuse to buy another :D

Hydro I have to say that is a neat looking rifle...your GF didn't do too bad a job. It's just "Interpretive camo". :D
Thanks

"Interpretive camo"...I like that LMAO :D

your GF painted you stock? WOW,thats something to think about in the fact that she did it for you.i hope you were at least appreciative of the fact she tried.i'm sure you were.

Yes I did. I trust her...well I use to till now :p. J/K. She is pretty into guns and such as her dad always use to include her in his hunting and shooting. I thanked her many times over ;)

Does anyone know if you can paint the barrel and clip..basically everything that doesn't move? What kind of paint would you use. I wanted to do that to this one but I chickened out but I have seen it done before.
