Hi there,
I recently picked up a Colt 1878 Double Action Army in .476 Eley. The action needs some TLC, and the old girl could use a good cleaning. Does anybody have any gunsmith recommendations? Know any gunsmiths that work on antiques and oddball firearms? Has anybody had a positive experience having work done on your own model 1878 or model 1877?
It was suggested that I contact the staff at Rusty Wood Trading Company. However, when I did, they told me they didn't work on the 1878s because "the action is weak." So...back to the drawing board.
Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
