Hi folks, I'm fairly new to Colt 1911's in 9mm, just bought a Competition model off the EE, great shape and a great shooter. It came with a Kimber magazine, nothing wrong with that, but I wanted an original Colt mag (very hard to find) but I found one, and ordered it. The ad states "Colt 1911 Magazine 8 Rounds Stainless Steel"
The problem is It won't fit the gun, it's too short, see pic below. Is it me, or did I get the wrong mag ?

Also, looks like the mainspring housing has an integral mag well. Hence, the need to have 'bumper's' on the bottom of your mags.

NAA.

No screw holes, and the actual mag, the Colt one is shorter than the Kimber without the bumper !
The Colt mag when installed in the 1911, flush at the bottom, won't go past the mag release, let alone reach the bottom of the breech.

To further clarify, here are the 2 mags, with the Kimber's bumper removed. The Colt mag is 1mm shorter from the base to the highest point of the mag body !

That's more than 1mm short. It appears to be 1 cm short.

It appears to me you purchased a magazine for a Commander frame, while you have the standard Govt frame gun.
