Hi all. I recently replaced my slide lock on my Colt MKIV Series 80 Combat Elite. Had it out at the range for the first time after replacing and had constant Failure to feed. Multiple times it was like when it cycled it just jammed the next round into the feed ramp. A few mags cycled no issues. Slide lock seems to lock back on an empty mag and drop the slide on a full one. But more mags than not it would FTF many times. Tap Rack sometimes solved the issue other times took some convincing to get the mag out and get it going again. Could this somehow be related to the new slide lock? Or maybe sheer coincidence? I maybe got through 60 rounds and eventually stopped shooting it as it clearly seemed suspect and was a constant issue. Never had this issue before at all! Any input greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

Make sure the slide stop is not binding in the link and that the barrel travels fully around the slide stop. A weak recoil spring or damaged/misfit extractor can cause issues.

So took a closer look. Looks like the next round being pushed up by the mag is catching the inside of the slide lock and being angled down then when the side cycles it’s just driving it into the feed ramp. I cycled some dummy rounds by hand and happens almost every time. The first round chambers only if I load the mag with slide locked back , which makes sense cause the slide lock is out of the way. Any round after that gets caught and driven into the ramp by the slide. Think this means the new slide lock is slightly out of spec or possible other issues? Any input is greatly appreciated !!
