What's up all,

Yes I know, another post about 1911. I looked rapidly in the handgun threads and I didn't see any comment about it. Are Colt 1911 available in Canada? I searched the web and the only place I saw it listed (but BO) was Al Flaherty's.

I think the 1911-1991 model is awesome, although highly priced. I know good, or even better copies are around. I'd like a Colt simply because they made the gun first for the army and I really like the classic look.

Anyway, what about it?

Profit River has some SMOKING Colts in stock right now....ArmsEast is also great, but dry right now. Elwood Epps has MANY Colts in stock also...

A NIB Colt 1911 (01991) series 80 Government .45 blued will run you about $1,300.00 .....used about $950 depending on condition.

They're around, but you'll pay a premium for the name. Try and find a Series 70 Mk IV, if you can. About a grand the last I looked. Not all of 'em are Gold Cups, but Epp's does list a few of those at $1100. I wouldn't part with the money asked for a 1991, myself.

Another place I would recommend calling, if you haven't yet found what you are looking for, is Pro-Line Shooters in Calgary. They sell a LOT of Colts and always seem to have plenty in stock. They pride themselves on being the highest volume Colt deealer in Canada for both 1911s and SAA revolvers. They do know their Colts.

I will most certainly call at all these places. I'm still waitin on the police to deliver my new permit before I can buy anything.

I'm really interested in the 1991, simply for the look and the "history" behind it. I guess I'm the sucker on this one, but it's so pruttty!
