Hi there

I have a recent production Gold Cup Trophy with an LPA/Bomar style rear sight.

Long story short - somehow the elevation screw has become stripped - it will not hold under recoil.

Can someone point me to a Canadian source for this screw?

I'm assuming that this is likely a standard part/thread for this style of sight and not something Colt specific?

Brownells hasn't got it. I'm not paying Numrich freight charges lol.

I'll try Western, Epps, Freedom Ventures, maybe Dlask...

I don't think there's any saving this screw. The threads are flattened. Screw must have been soft and or undersized. Gun is supposed to have under 400 rounds through it, so no doubt defective from the start.

NECG can ship sights to Canada. They might be able to help you out or contact Colt directly. They should be able to put you in touch with a supplier here.

Thanks

I ended up ordering from Kensight $10 for the screw and $30 to ship. Ouch! This is why I wanted to avoid buying from the US. Bought 2 to take some of the sting out.

I ran out of options in Canada - no one sells just the screw. Even Colt only sells the complete sight (and in no way offered to replace unless I shipped them the slide)

I did carefully inspect the threads in the sight base and they appear sharp and undamaged. I can only assume it was an out of spec screw. Sh|t happens...

Did you contact Colt for a replacement of the sight.

whole aftermarket site wiuld have been around 70

Yes I did. They only offered to look at it if I shipped them the slide. I'm not sure if that would even be kosher with the idiot laws controlling the border

I know it's a borderline case. The screw is still cheaper, and I don't have 1 unserviceable sight in the drawer just to make another one good.

Plus, with me I would no doubt have ordered or gotten sent one that doesn't fit the cut on this gun. That's just how my luck runs.

you'd have to get the proper permits to send, and then they'd have to get permits to export.
