No offense but I would argue the "holster damage" theory. I've never heard of a holster that only contacted the left hand side of the slide and dust cover. It looks to me as if it had some finish damage (see the deep pitting on the slide and dust cover) and someone tried to buff it out. The rest of the pistol looks decent, if it was all in that level of condition you could probably expect it to fetch 2000 or more (we Canucks are stupid about early Government Models and the possibility of them being carried into battle). Does it have the original barrel in it? That is a huge part of the value in an early pistol. The stocks look better than any of my 1914 examples have, but its a small part of the whole package. As it is, I would hazard a guess that if you sold it for more than 1000-1200 dollars, you shouldn't sleep well at night.
