Colt 1911

New Colt 1911's are hard to find. I know there's one at www.ellwoodepps.com for around $1000. Also I THINK I remember http://www.theshootingedge.com/ can bring them in. I seem to remember they sold a Gold Cup for around $1400-$1500.
It doesn't seem as though anyone stocks them on a regular basis but I'm just going by what I've seen on the net.

Having the cash and the desire is all the reason you need to wish to purchase any gun,
however Colt is no longer the top 1911 maker any more. There is nothing except the name to draw people to that make. Kimber, STI make a better product. Springfield is at least as good and doesn't suffer from the PC changes made to Colts own products. Frankly, given the choice between a stock Colt and a stock Norinco, I'd have to think about it.

Actually for me it's more a function of how much stock material and finish is going into the bin before it gets to where I need it. For the price difference, the Norc comes back from Armco a lot cheaper than the equivalent Colt.
I agree but the finish on the Nor 1911 (well from the pics on mar) looks like a retarded baboon had at it with a rock and a chunk of wood, but the price does make it very tempting. Anyone have a Nor 1911 and that could give me an ear full about the finish because I wish I was wrong.
I have to agree with Laniru... My Norcs were great shooters and lots of fun to practice and then compete with. 8)
My Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 is that cat's ass when it comes to fit and finish. There' no comparison. Hey, these Norc 1911's got me into the game and I did so much learning with the Norcs. I'll never bad mouth them. It's just that I've learned so much more after having handled them and then moved on to Imbel produced Springers. :wink:
Go for either one that fits your budget and shooting style.

I've talked to guys who shoot stock Norinco 1911's IPSC, they say they're just as good as anything else. for a couple hundred bucks what do you think your gonna get finish-wise? They have the big controls and double stack mags too. They're not pretty but when you pull the trigger they still go boom. I'll keep my springfield though.
