I've come to the sad realization that I will never be able to afford all of Colt Canada offerings, hahaha! And yes, hoping for a blemished batch, but I have a feeling CC will be a bit more careful this timea round and make sure none of their staff have any more off-days, lol!

Not so sure there will be a blem match. Perhaps. Maybe. Won't know unless it happens.

These are literally sitting in storage waiting to get shipped to the Brits. Because the shipment is sitting until 2017 waiting to be transported, O'Dells has been able to take some off the pallet and sell them to the civilian market. Colt Canada in turn is replacing the ones O'Dells is selling the top up the order.

I tend to agree with Fenceline. I dont think we will ever see a deal like the 'Blem" IUR's again from Colt Canada.

I'm still not clear as to why the side rail area is empty/without rails on these and the other IURs? Is it install the recent MLoc/keylok/newlok attachment???

It was my understanding that the 'blems' were from shipping them overseas, then back again on an order return.
Explains why so many of them were perfect. The blems came from transport.

Because most of the time those rail spaces are not used by many people, so they just cut it.

KAC did that with the URX 3 some years ago. If you use a small scout light or attach your IR on the side, that is all the rails you will ever need, provided you put your dual switch on top, on that small piece of rail or on the vertical grip. Unless you have a grenada launcher and have to mount sighting device on the rail.

However, if you have a longer dual switch like a surefire dual switch to run both the laser and the light, or you do not want to have you switch all the way to the front ( or rig it somehow to the non-rail section ), you will run into issue. Basically, you are stuck running your laser and light in less number of configurations, and cannot mount the switch closer to the receiver on the side. .

This also means if you have a legacy light like the older and heavier surefire 962 or a big box like PEQ 2, you won't be able to mount it farther to the back to balance the rifle.

It is less of an issue for a full length carbine because there is a lot of space on the top rail for mounting switches(and this thing with a heavy barrel it is probably not very practical to not hold it further down to control the weapon), but for a short barrel rifle like 10 to 11", it could be a problem because there is very limited space for attaching switches. Depending how much control you would like to have with your IR laser, if you are using a laser product DBAL and want to quickly flip through the switches, this is going to be difficult. If you are using a L3 type PEQ15 laser with a switch on top of the body, it is less of an issue because it is not designed to be quickly flipped through with the thumb anyways.

Basically, it is a way to optimize for a certain configurations of light+laser and a certain way to hold the weapon. My guess is that they have scout light and AN/PEQ15.
