Hi everyone! Would like to buy older colt combat commander when I get my restricted license.( 3 months wait so far) Is commanders barrel length legal? I know it's 4 1/4 inches, not sure what that is in millimeters though. Help, I really hope this fine firearm is not prohibited for being a mm or two too short! Thanx for responses ahead of time!

Quick question, would 105 be illegal, but 106 legal, or would 105 be legal and 106 obviously legal too?

Criminal Code Part III Section 84(1):

“prohibited firearm” means (a) a handgun that (i) has a barrel equal to or less than 105 mm in length.

If the barrel measures exactly one-oh-five point zero zero zero zero [and so on] millimetres, it is Prohibited.

Any measurable amount over 105mm is good.

Usually you will see manufacturers make their barrels clearly over the limit (107-8mm), but if one measures, say 105,187mm the Registration Certificate will round it up to 106mm.
