The father of my friend ownes this revolver for more than 50 years, and would like to know everything about it, as he remembers only that it was
also carried by Border Patrol on the American-Mexican border.
Who can help him?

Picture attached, and better ones can be made a little later if needed.
Thank you all !

Rick

Thank you Rick !
I checked under the website mentioned, but does not show or name
any "Colt New Service " Revolvers. (Cal. 44-40 or any other)
Our member "Santiago" helped me already, as he owns one in good condition
but could not put his fingers on production date either.
The serial is 294XX with a small capital "A" below. 5 Digits only!

Just from it's construction features your Colt New Service revolver was produced between @1907-1917.

Your serial narrows it down considerably closer to @1910.

Thank you ALL very much for your valuable info.
My friends father is a happier man, now at 76.
He is very attached to this gun, knowing now that his
Colt is older than him!
He was astonished when I told him how much help I got
on this forum , but first I had to explain to him what computers
can do. I think he still shakes his head.

Thanks for starting this thread, I was looking for the same info as well. My wifes Grandmother has one that was her fathers since world war one. I have the origional holster and some other accessories and will be recieving the revolver very soon I hope. it is registered in my wifes Grandfathers name who recently passed away :( .

I will probably do some more history research once I recieve it and get the paperwork figured out.

Your paw is a lucky man, that's a fancy shooting iron indeed. And in extremely nice condition.
