colt id help please!

hey, i acquired a 1911 gov't model .45 and apparently its really old, like 1914 type old. i have some pics, but i need someone to host them or something. who can i send them too?

Try this URL. Scroll down the left hand side to pick your model. The one I had was 88### which put its mfg in 1914.

so the number under where it says government model on the right hand side says, c 9824 that would make it a 1914 also right?

If your serial # starts with a C then you have the commercial model mfg'd sometime in 1914. If there is no C then you have a government model mfg'd sometime in 1912 probably for the USN.

1) Colt M1911 Canadian Contract: S/N C5400 to C16599 = Sept. to Nov., 1914 ( Only 5000 pistols in this serial number range were shipped to Canada.) Caliber .45 ACP"

Judging by this statement one "may assume" that yours was part of a shipment to Canada. The again out of the 11199 total within that range only 5000 were shipped here. In any event it seems you have a piece of history. Hope you got a good deal.
