Hey all, I was wondering if anyone knows the value of a Colt King Cobra in .357 with a 6" barrel.
Its in excellent condition and has been well taken care of over the years.
Basically my dad is getting rid of it (he hasn't shot any of his handguns in years) and wants to sell it to me as he would rather see me use and enjoy it as opposed to selling it at the local gun store (for a good loss on its value). The part that surprised me is that looking online (at least in the states) the price is around 1000 to 1500$ (he bought it in the 90's for cheap) and I want to give him a fair and honest price for the revolver (he is willing to give it to me for a fair bit less but I want to pay what its worth just on principle alone) especially considering he is giving me all the ammunition he has for it as well. Do they command the same price in Canada or is that just a States pricing? I am willing to offer what it is worth but I don't want to over pay (I'm feeling about 800 at the moment but if it is worth more I will pay more).
Any thoughts?

Instead of pimping it on the pistol forum..try putting it on the EE...but your inbox is probably full by now.....edit..didnt the whole post, your old man should give it to you..i gave my son his pistols.:dancingbanana:

He wants to give it to me for cheap but I want to pay full price (or close to full price) due to the facts he is giving me about 1000rds of ammo for it along with speed loaders, holster, and various other militaria and ammo he has no need for and has gathered over the years (probably gave me close to 1500$ worth of stuff). I just want to give him a fair price for it as he has given me a fair bit and I want to try and even it out for him as I know he is taking a major loss giving/selling this to me.

You are a good son...we all only have one dad and they won't always be around! Unless he needs the cash I would guess no matter how much or how little you give him he likely will not want to accept it. Having lost my dad at 9 and my step dad at 50 and last new years loosing my 29 year step son, spending time with you would probably mean more to him! I would say to him twice what he says he wants, he gets extra cash and you feel better about accepting all the goodies!

The money was spent a long time ago, is how he no doubt feels. If it makes you feel better, with all of the extra's he's offering $1500 is a "family" rate and a good starting place for such a fine piece. (you wouldn't be over paying) Don't be surprised if he refuses and only holds you to the contingent that you'll take the 'ol man out for a range day every now and again:).

feel good with a $800 - $1k offer. $800-1000 for the pistol, and $400 for the ammo, nothing for the accessories, minus a few hundred for the family discount.... he didn't buy the gun as an investment. as others stated he probably won't accept but by offering $800-1k, you are showing him that you really appreciate it and are trying to be fair.
