Hello guys, I'm hoping to swap the birdcage flash hider with the three pronged that came with my Colt M16A1.
Only problem is I don't know what tool to use?
Do I use a wrench, and will it damage the flash hider when I clamp it? Or are there special tools for flash hider removal?
Please let me know, much obliged and have a great weekend!

Power Pill, I guess you're right it'd work. Just looking for the retro style ones at the moment, but thanks!

machman thank you good sir that's what I'm looking for, and thanks for the heads up!

Got myself one of these for the three prong FH

Hi guys, I just bought myself one of the retro wrench, waiting for it in the mail.
In the meantime though (should've probably asked before I made the purchase) can someone tell me if this tool can let me remove the current birdcage flash hider that came with my Colt M16A1 Vietnam War rifle??
I see the grooves for the three prong, but I also need to remove the birdcage first, would the retro wrench do that?
Thanks in advance!

The tools shown was designed to work with both types of suppressors as well as the receiver extension.

Thank you appreciate it! I was going to do a Tet Offensive 1968 Marine impression but from many photos I’ve seen the three prong were still used in many of the photos so I decided to change it. Cheers!

Guys my apologies to necro this post. I got the tool, but how do I remove the flash hider with it? I tried to do it by hand the whole thing won’t budge a bit! Any help thank you?!

You need to clamp the barrel in the vise - use vise blocks and removed - RHT.

When you install the replacement, you will need a new crush washer.

Yes, with one small change. The three prong and A1 flash hiders use a lock washer as no timing is required.
