I am looking for a C8 type rifle so that i can hone my tactical shooting skills.

I have decided to go with .22 instead of the 5.56 because i would so much rather spend $22 on 500 rounds than 20.

would love to hear if anyone has fired either or both of these rifles and what you think of them.

I only have experience with the M&P 15-22 but I can tell you that I bought mine this week and ran almost 500 through it that first night (Win 555 pack) with NO failures of any kind. Almost unheard of for a new tactical semi. The trigger was ok, it was accurate, and it feels like an AR.

I've shot it's big brother the M&P 15 and the feel and controls are identical. It even takes down the same, two pins and it's in 2 parts. The bolt carrier group comes out just like the bigger AR so you can clean it properly. I've heard that the Colt's BCG does not come out, at least not easily.

It's a bit lighter than the Colt, but I don't mind because I plan on putting a scope/PEPR on top and an angled red dot off the side. That'll bring the weight back in line.

I also plan to replace the stock with a Magpul one. The mil-spec tube ones fit perfectly. Also the RRA Match triggers are a drop-in replacement.

Hope that helps!

Mike
