Colt Match HBAR: different series ???

I saw a number of Colt Match HBAR's that were slightly different. They were all A2's, the only difference was in the lower receiver's...some had the protective fence around the mag release, and others didn't.

What's with this? Is that because the newer models have the more "modern" style with the protective fence around the mag release, and the older models dont ???

Exactly. Early ones were of the "slick side" variety. The newer generations had the mag fence on them. Also the latest ones came with push pins front and back - where the older ones had a screw type assembly on the front and push pin rear...
