Hi
I’m looking to acquire a revolver frame from the U.S. I’m told it’s a Colt model 1889 made about 1892 which would make it an antique. It’s in really rough shape but only 10.00 u.s. One picture, you can easily tell, is from a different one but they have the exact same markings and format. This is just coz of the rust. Is there any Colt models that some/or all parts could be made to fit? I’d like to build a working gun on this sad frame, once cleaned up and re-blued of course. Serial#19625 COLT D.A. 41 I would greatly appreciate any help or leads that I could follow, if this is truly a 1889 colt:confused:

Not sure what you're trying to do, friend, but if I wanted to buy something like that and wanted it under Antique status, I would get that .38 barrel the heck off it before trying to bring it in. With the .38 barrel, it's a Restricted.

If you want a REAL old-timey gun, get the frame and a bunch of parts so you can build it as a .41 Long Colt. The .41s were generally built on the same frame as the .38s, so you can do this. Something like this would make a real FUN project. Brass for the .41 is available (I will be be getting some for my own gun, but mine is a 1905 so I am scrood as far as Antique is concerned). So are moulds. So are dies. And you can be the only guy in the club shooting a REAL old-timey gun; everybody else will be shooting repros!

Other alternative is to bring it in 'as-is', register it, rebuild as a .41 and then TRY to get it deregistered and all that. The paperwork could be daunting, to say the least.

Easiest way is to get that Restricted barrel the heck off it.

FWIW, friend.

I may be wrong, but if has no barrel, hence unknown caliber,
I can see all kinds of flak from CFO .
As it is 38. , don't matter how old it is.
