Colt national match 1911 .38 special

Interesting pistol, fun to shoot... not quite as accurate as the S&W M52. I believe less than 8,000 were produced.

They are a delayed blow back action, in order to delay the mechanism, they ribbed the inside of the chamber.

Mine likes a heavy roll crimp to operate reliably.

Magazines are still available from Triple-K, Brownells part # 486-000-004

Colt .38 Special Gold Cup National Match

These are very nice pistols. I shot one (a lot) for nineteen years and it was as good a gun the day I sold it as when I bought it. They are also relatively scarce and when I do see one it is usually priced in the vicinity of $1000. Enjoy it and don't trade it for a S&W 52!

There are colt blue book values on different models. Some models & year of manufacture plus the amount produce play a big factor in price. And the condition of the firearm.

Rare, and very few available if you are lucky to find one. My mentor has one and I was told it has several feeding problems from the box. He got it used, sold by the prev owner due to some feeding problems. He met a Colt gunsmith @ Camp Perry and was told that there was indeed a feeding problem related to the ramp. He sent the pistol to Colt, reworked the ramp and it shoots perfectly. Coincidentally, he saw another used unit from a dealer and bought it after meeting the gunsmith @ Camp Perry. This one has the reworked ramped. A good old friend of him saw it and bugged him until he agreed to sell. He kept the first one and still shoots the gun once in a while.
