Is this about the one at the upcoming Ward's sale? I've looked at that gun and according to the Colt forums those markings would indicate 44-40, although it is possible the cylinder was replaced sometime in the past.

If the barrel is simply marked ".44" the gun is chambered for .44wcf also known as .44-40

If chambered for .44 Russian, the barrel will state .44 Russian...
