Does anyone know how many Colt New Service .455 revolvers Canada ordered in WW1 for use by her armed forces - so not police/Mountie issue.

The figure for Canadian S&W .455 Hand Ejector revolvers is known but I don't think I have seen a total figure quoted for the Colt NS in .455, wartime purchases.

Best that I can find is about 60,000 went to Britain and Canada, how that was divided I can not tell. The NWMP had some in .45 Colt before the war. I have one in .455 and it is a wonderful shooter, very accurate with slightly hotter than mild handloads but I added a grip adapter so the trigger guard would stop wrapping me in the knuckles!
