Colt New Service Full Engraved

HI FRIENDS.-

Last winter. I have find a COLT ''NEW SERVICE'' revolver cal. .45 long Colt, 6.5 in. barrel fully engraved, and, on left side of the barrel it is an inscription ''TO HARRY SNYDER FROM ''THE DUKE'' JULY 2 - 1928''.

Now, I do not know if this engraving is original on this revolver.

I don't think that Marion wasn't being called "the Duke" in 1928. In 1928 he was 21 & according to the (history channel) bio the other night not doing so well financially.

I'd suspect it was added to increase sale price at some point as a "John Wayne" artifact.

Might have been one of the royal tours, Duke of Windsor and all that. - dan

How about Duke Snyder, he played baseball for the dodgers in the 50's and 60's.
