Stoopid question, so please be nice.

I have a nice 1917 manufacture Colt New Service in 455 Eley put away, like the one HERE. Now calibre and British use aside, I want to get a repro US holster for it. So here's my problem:

Is the Colt New Service the same as the US Army Model of 1917 Revolver? And if so, will this one fit in a US M1917 Holster like Marstar sells?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Well to be honest, I want both! :p I have no prob getting the British/Can webbing one, its just the US one I wanted some confirmation on. As far as my collection goes, it is US military-centric more than Brit/Can, so thats why I want a US M1917 Revolver holster.

Ones a Canadian Military pistol in .455 with matching holster, the other in 45 long Colt is marked MP for the mounties, also with a matching holster but as you can see the holsters are very different from each other. Note the slightly different cylendar releases. I love the big old hammers, round here we call em "Indiana Jones Pieces" even though he used several different pistols, but... they were all big.

I actually had a nice US holster with the full leather belt and crossed shoulder strap set up. It was far too small for me, I sold it at a local gun show or your search would be over. I found it on e-bay a few years back but have never seen a rig like it since. Came from a museum collection in Virginia, still had the exhibit tags on it... should have kept it.

Very neat, the one I am getting is a 1917 manufacture with Brit proofs and broad arrow with the straighter looking cylinder release.

Too bad about that old holster, but no regrets, you got a couple beauties there now. ;)
