Whats the typical asking price on a 6'' Colt Python in good condition? I've been searching around for a while and can't seem to find anything.

I saw one at a Florida gun show last June. It was priced at $2600. I figured the seller was off his rocker. Perhaps I was wrong?

Thats in the ball park a collector's grade never been fired around $3k and shooter grade $1500-$2500

It would be like the original, Swiss SIG 210's and the more recent German production. They may come close, but they'll never match the original.

Oh so true. The Python is a one of a kind just like the Sig 210 was.

By the way, saw a Python go for just over $3,000 recently as part of an estate sale. As mentioned on this thread, don't pay attention to US pricing for the more rare pieces. Up here add at least 30% or more than what you would pay for the same hard to find gun down south.

OP, be prepared to pay at least $2,500 for a decent condition Python if one shows up on CGN or anywhere else. They disappear quickly so be ready to part with that amount of coin on short order.

I suspect expertise required to produce such finely made revolvers has long since been lost, and the production costs are prohibitive. While some people would desperately like to have one, the market just isn't large enough.

Very true. Not only the expertise has retired & the costs of today would be very extreme to produce. The complete specialized tooling department has been dismantled as well many years ago.
