Has anyone shot both guns and if so what kind of differences was there , price is about the same , I know Springfield builds a good gun and colt use to not sure about present gun Quality? Any help would be great !

buy the springfield, it will be twice the gun the colt will be, and run correctly out of the box with fewer sharp edges and probably a slightly lower price.

Has colts Quality suffered over the last few years ?

I didn't know it had ever been good. Other then they're revolvers, especially the python, which was admittedly a hand built gun, most of the 1911's they built wouldn't run reliably on anything other then military ball. That's what created the market for springfield and kimber, and all the others. They offered a pistol that would feed and eject out of the box.

Their current guns are pretty, and usually run, but have numerous sharp edges and of the three that i sold while working the counter at a gun store, two came back for warrantee. One the sights fell off and the hammer wouldn't stay at full ####, the other the ambi saftey wasn't fit properly and wouldn't work.

At 12,000 rounds? Not hard to do.

Yeah... the test guns. And how are the actual M45A1 CQB pistols doing? Would the Springfield Operator do better... ? Are they manufactured in Brazil too, like their basic models?

I own Colt's and Springfield's and I have always found the Colts to be of better quality. YMMV

They both have sharp edges too..

Hickock45 just did a video on the 'Professional' from Springfield, which is a higher grade operator built in the custom shop. Maybe this'll help you with your decision.

The Springfield Pro is - by every single account I've read, an absolutely first class pistol. It comes with 2 features that stop most people from buying one - a $4K price tag and an 18 month (sometimes longer) wait. Oh yes, and they don't sell them in Canada, so it's an import on your own kind of proposition, with little to no warranty.

Thanks guys I'v heard lots of good things about the Springfield operators and not much good about the colt rail gun so I'm guessing the Springfield operator is the best choice as of so far. The price of the professional is out of my
Price range so a TRP will have to do . Thanks again for your great info.

I have not shot a new rail gun but out of the 8 colt 1911's I do have I can't say one bad thing about quality or finish. Mind you there all series 70 and earlier. My TRP operator is my user, love this gun! Points and handles very nice, accurate and reliable so far. My only real ##### is the front grip strap checkering, mine is sharp & hard on the fingers, I know waaah suck it up princess. I'm just used to vintage 1911 design with no checkering. You won't be disappointed with this gun unfortunately very hard to acquire at this time.

Owned a Pro Operator that was manuf. in 2008. CRG prefix with the Nowlin bbl. It was the best 1911 I've ever owned. Doesn't compare to a basic TRP at all, it's made in SA Custom Shop by their best smiths. A CGN'r who had been looking for one for a long time made me an offer I coud'nt refuse and I let it go... Bought an Ed Brown Executive Target a few months later but it didn't come close to my beloved Pro. Yeah, missed that Pro ever since... That changed two months ago when I got my custom Les Baer Prowler III and put close to 1k rounds in two range trips. This one will never leave the stable unless the heavens falls on me!

If the OP has the $$$$ to order a Pro (about $3.8k and over 2 yrs wait time to have it), he should consider a Les Baer, their basic models will run $2.3k and their top of the line guns around $4k but in my book they worth every penny. Plus delivery time will be cut in half!

My Prowler as the 1.5" @ 50 yards groups guarantee option. Below is 10 shots @ 50 yards from a Ransom Rest tested at the Les Baer shop, it's .814" center to center.
