Colt SAA 1stGen threads

Hello CGN smiths,

Been a long time at my old SAA, but it's all apart now.

Anyways, now I'm trying to figure out what taps I need to re-tap the original holes. Everything came out ok, just want to clean them up. Thanks for all the advice so far!

I have a contact in the US and can order new screw kits, and parts, but I can't figure out what taps I need to order.



Can someone please help me? Couldn't Google it, so must have to go "oldschool" and get it out of an actual book!

Best of luck finding an affordable tap.

There are a couple outfits around that made or make replacement screws. IIRC at least one listed the thread diameters and pitches. But I couldn't find them in a few minutes wandering the web. Being gun screws, th like that they will be a standard tap size seems...slim.
Got the Kunhausen (spelling?) Single Action book? Should have all that and more therein.

No I don't have any SAA books.

I need to know the screw sizes for all the screws in the gun. I'm guessing there can't be more than 3 different sizes, but am not sure.

I couldn't find them either online. If nobody can look it up in a book, I'll have to buy a screw set and go from there I guess.

Try not to underestimate the thinking of the gun companies.They often enough made all the screws different, so they would only go into one hole.

Makes sense when you think that like as not, they had one machine, or a bank of them all set up the same, making one style and size of screw, pretty much until they had enough for that run, then the machine(s) would be set up for whatever the next part was.
