After some health issues precluded me from shooting indoors (lead), I found myself missing the weekly range sessions, especially with my 357 Ruger Vaquaro. The only viable alternative seemed to be an air pistol in the basement. In the distant past, I have had a Walther CP88 (very good !) and a Baikal IZH-46M Match (extremely good !) but since I sold both some time ago, I found myself looking for a decent handgun to "keep my eye in " My search soon settled on a Umerex CO-2 Colt SAA with a 7.5" rifled barrel. On line reviews were especially glowing for this model, and I thought I would give one a try.
Well, it arrived this morning, and all I can say is "WOW", fit and finish are exceptional, all plated metal except for the grip panels and rubber seals, realism is 99%, weight is right on with the real SAA, trigger pull is great (I would say in the 1 lb range). The muzzle velocity is listed at 380 for the 5" model, but the 7.5" is reported to be in the 450 FPS range. To put this in context, a standard .45 ACP leaving a 1911 is going 850FPS, mind you the .177 pellet is a lot smaller, but it still puts nice round holes in the target. And to top it off, it is cartridge loaded thru a loading gate, see pictures. I am a bit OCD when it comes to my guns, and I noticed some nice little touches..the shell extractor really works, the grip panel inserts are screwed in place, not just "plastic rivited". As soon as I can I will post some shooting stats.
