Colt Sporter Lightweight in 9MM?

Some had the large front take down pin and others had the small take down pin.

What do you want to know? Should be a 16" pencil barrel with slickside A1 upper and CAR stock, identical to an SP1 carbine except for the caliber. Pivot pin may be a large two piece screw like on the SP1. Mag block should be a two pieced that's pinned in place. Mags are 5/20 or 5/32 for Colt marked ones and used to command a very heavy premium. They still may since supply doesn't really seem to be any better. 10" uppers were available on the SMG variants (RO634,635 and 639) and they do surface from time to time from police trade ins etc..

The only thing to really be aware of is that the Bolt Hold Open device is a special one with long tail. They are prone to failure because of overtravel of the buffer. You can replace them with regular ones but then the bolt won't stay to the rear on the last round. Not a big deal in my opinion. I have a mixmaster 9mm built on an SP1 upper and lower and use an aftermarket magblock that doesn't use the BHO on the last round. I may modify it to work in the future but it doesn't ruin the fun for me.

The most reliable 9mm AR there is.

Variantions. Whether they are still currently made or rare. I've owned own since new and it stays in the safe most of the time. When I take it to the range recently it seems to generate a lot more interest than my AR in 5.56 Nato.

They still make 9mm carbines but switched over to a flat top receiver a couple of years ago (AR6951). New ones have A2 style lowers compared to your earlier SP1 style. Pivot pin is now the regular dia captured pin common on ARs and new ones sport oval M4 handguards and heavier M4 buttstock on the new model. That's not necessarily an improvement to some people. I personally prefer the older CAR stock and they are in demand by those that prefer light and simple stocks.

I have no idea how rare your rifle is but you certainly don't seem to see to many of them these days. A Colt collector would likely give you a fairly decent price if you sold it. A regular plain jane SP1 should be around $800-1000, yours could likely sell for a good chunk more than that.

Don't give away any Colt marked mags. They are extremely hard to come by. I'm unsure as to there current value but a few years back they could easily fetch $200 each.
