Predator hunting I'm getting more crows coming in than anything. I want to carry a shotgun, while having the ability to reach out a bit (223) if I do get a yote or wolf to show. A 410 shotgun and a 22 rimfire are not powerful enough for me. I don't need an -06 or 308 as the rifle caliber because my predator and big game hunting don't really overlap. Anyone else use combo guns?

Baikal guns are well built. Fit and finish my not impress everyone but they work. Nice guns for th money. Brno is another. Tikka had a nice one in 222/12ga

I have a BRNO 802 in 12 over 30-06. Very nice rifle. Rifle barrel has a set trigger as well, though if you set the trigger it locks out the shotgun trigger. When unset you have choice of trigger. I've mounted a Vortex SPARC II on it which works nice. Only problem is I had to buy the mount out of Shop CZ in Europe. Cost more to ship the part than to buy it. Mount cost around 100 euros shipped. Wholesale Sports in Langley has one last time I was in about 6 months ago. Will probably still be there. It's around $2100. Got tired of having a rifle for grouse and a shotgun for deer. Barrels are regulated to 50m. Shoots rifle about 4" high at 100 and is back on at 200. With the 1x scope I would want prefect conditions to go out further than that. Comes with a fixed modified choke.

I have a 222 over 20 gauge savage. It is a very useful gun for exactly what the op is describing. Features like the ability to mount a scope and extractors make it easy to use. My only complaint is that I haven't yet been able to get a .223 reamer and change the caliber. Savage makes a gun in 22wmr/410 that is a little more punch than .22lr.

Not currently in production but Savage made a Model 24 P redator. Mine is .223 over 12g 3" mag with winchokes. It comes with rifle sights and a scope mount is available. It's heavy but versatile. You may be able to find a used one.
