I've just picked up a nice little wood about an hour from where I live and itholds Roe deer, Fallow deer and yes at last Wild Boar. This is all on a phone call from the sporting agent who I do lots of work for. basically there is year ound shooting available as Boar have no season neither do Muntjac and the close season for deer is only a month long. Bucks March to Nov, Does Nov to end of Feb. I can see seven spring fed ponds, its on a re entrant protected from the prevailing south westerly wind so duck and goose, no close season on Canadas, should be do able. Bring guns and ammo but no semi rifles. No mag limits on rifles but some funny rules on shotguns. I intend to sell stalking and rough shooting by the day to cover the rent but it still should leave plenty for the pot!
only problem, you need the air fare. I'm not that generous!

Wow TimC good for you! Sounds like a really great enviroment for critters.

and yes, thankyou for the invite very generous of you

play safe,

Mommabear

Be careful with an offer like that. You never know who might take it up. :D

How is the non-waterfowl bird hunting on your land? How about wood pigeons? They are fine shooting and a delectable feast.

I'm happy to pay my own airfare, accomodation and acquire the proper paperwork for my sxs. I might even have to spring for some plus fours.;)

one canuck swiming down the big pond..... now wait there, I'll use the beaver boat.... You're just looking to get your revenge on whatever happened on April 15, aren't you?

Guys, It's a trap....:runaway:

No handgun hunting, some deer srtalkers are permitted for back up on wounded deer. Plenty of wild birds, Pheasants, partridges and wood pigeons. Depending on the ground there may be an opportunity to release reared birds in July ready for some shooting when the season starts in september.
Plus fours are not mandatory but useful when wearing wellies. Paperwork for guns and rifles requires a UK sponsor but is very simple. I'llcheck the ground out next wek. Even if it isnt as great as the land agent says I still have plenty closer to home and more further over closer to Winchester!

Tim,

Good to see some stuff open up for you. It's a great opportunity that I'll call you on...some times in the future. I have a wedding in February for my niece that I have to brush up on my Spanish for.

Keep some stock for tomorrow!;)

Tim, sounds great. It's way past due for another visit to the UK...

I may even be able to convince The Girl to go on this "hunting" trip. She loves the UK ;) ;)

Tim,
ON another note, I will be flying through Heathrow next July with my son on the way to Johannesburg. My rifles will be checked baggage the whole way through, do I haev any issues I need to deal with ahead of time with the UK govt?
