I bought my son a Cometa 5 .177 about 25 years ago when he was 10. Now his son is ready to use it. It cocks and shoots but has reduced power. It will barely shoot through one side of a cardboard box. For sentimental reasons I would like to get it repaired. Are parts available? Any idea who repairs these? I am a shotgunner and know little about air guns. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The seals may be dry or need replacing. The gun may need lubrication in general.

I think the author there has a few blogs where he makes his own leather seals with a punch and talks about lubrication in other posts.
Worst case scenario, you can check with D&L Airgun or Airgun Source to see how much they charge for repairs.

If it has a leather seal it is best to take it apart and soak the piston seal down in a paper cup or disposable container with a 1/2" of Neatsfoot oil [silicone based] to re-swell the seal .I leave it about a week then reassemble. As well the mainspring needs lubricated with moly.
