i was wondering what would the pros and cons of the Norinco and a Hi-point 9 mm.
It would be my first hand gun.
Thanks

Norinco is probably the "best bang for your buck" on the market, go for a 1911 model or a "sig" clone, you can't go wrong with either. Hi-point pistols look like a whores nightmare, but they function great and have the best warranty in the buisiness.

Well some people here enjoy their hi-points, they are not the greatest of firearms. they rely on blowback to operate the gun, hence the large slide. The Norinco's are copies of very good designs, the 1911 and CZ clones are very strong. The newer Sig clones are nice also. I would look at the EE here or check one of the sponsors above.

I Have been trying to find a new cheap 9mm for a while. For 200 bucks I'd rather buy American even if the Chinese is better. At least the high point is different, original, seems like most guns are 1911 copies

Which is why I hate most hot rods, they all have 350 chev engines, how original is that

i own a bunch of norincos,,love em all! that high point is American, yes,,but thats about all its got going for it,,and barely that..
ya gotta start somewhere , :)

Buy Norinco...its a lot nicer than a Hi point

hi-point pistol

I have a Hi-Point 40 S&W Greenslide that I got at Prophet River. It was only $269.00 and a bit of shipping and some tax for uncle Steevy so we can support the welfare loosers and our reservation rejects.Zero problems with 1000 plus rounds down range and if ya run out of ammo the gun is heavy enough to beat zombies [ or the local crak head ] to death.Excellent service from Hi-Point as they sent me a pair of black grips no charge! I would buy another one.

I think the hi point 9mm is prohib. 40 and 45 for us up here. I like the look of the green ones. They are ugly and the green really sets it off as uglier. I would buy one just to show people that ugly works.

I had a .40 and it was actually SUPER accurate with all the loads I tried. It was awkward due to so much "weight forward", but the exact same "problem weight" also helped keep the muzzle down, and the fixed barrel is quite heavy and accurate. I bought one as a first handgun, and it wasn't a bad purchase. Took a while to sell when I got more pistols, but , for 250 or so, It was a good surprise to shoot. The sights were actually really nice to use also. It came with 2 diff kinds of sights for you to choose from.

Was at the range last night with my brother in law for his first time shooting, heard some hooting and cheering from the lane next to us. Looked over and the shooting neighbor was elated. Saw the target, and ragged single hole groups at 10 yards. He was shooting a new to him Hi-Point .45. My opinion of Hi-Points has changed, at least in the performance department, still ugly as sin.

Ive heard pretty good things about Hi-point pistols as far as reliability and accuracy go. Id consider one in the future. Price is certainly right.

A Hi-Point .45 was my first pistol. Great gun and never jammed. The manual says dont field strip it to clean. Well after watching a few youtube vids I decided to take it apart. I messed something up putting it back together. I sent it to Ellwood to get fixed and traded it in on a Norc .45. Now im not a gunsmith but I have stripped a few guns for cleaning without issue. Maybe its just not user friendly?

Never handled or shot a Hi Point.

I have a number of Norc clones and the real deal for each. The Norcs shoot as well as the real ones.

I would rank them, as a good sytarter pistol, clone of:

CZ, SIG, 1911.

The Norc 1911s are iffy in accuracy in 9mm ( have 5 of them), very good in 45. I have several 9mm Norc CZ, and all are very accurate.
