After the HK P7 I'd say try the SIG P239 for small frame but still full bore 9mm.
The least expensive small frame .380 will be an FN 1910 (extended .380) or 1922 (.380). You could probably buy 3 for your Beretta price, and mags are at Tradex for cheap. The 7.65 / .32 mags feed .380 just fine.
Here, 9mm can be as low as $12.50 for a box of 50, while .380 can be as low as $22.50 for a box of 50...
I have a couple of prohib Cheetahs in .22, and a factory threaded barrel that could make at least one of them restricted, if I could find the darned thing. That and a couple of months' wait... Even prohib .22 Cheetahs are pricey. They're nice little pistols though, one is still new in the box. That would be the only Cheetah I would buy at this point: the .22.
What the heck has happened to the prices of .32 ACP and .380 ACP? I still have some with $14 stickers on it.
