good morning,

have been kicking tires for some time and will be buying a quad for hunting over the next week. after some researching, am thinking about getting a 2007 polaris sportsman with the built in seating for two. does anyone have experience/comments with this specific model or the 2006/2007 sportsman 500 quad with the single seat. the prices are good right now as the dealers are bottoming out the 2007s, which include a winch, camo colour, scabbard, extended warrenty for $9,100 + the grab/screw tax. i think the regular msrp is touching $12,000. be interested in hearing your comments about this specific quad. thanks!!

well, personal preference would be for the can-am 2 seater over a polaris, up here everyone that owns a polaris #####es about how much it is in the shop for.

Two of my hunting buddy's have polaris on a 500 and the other is a 800cc which is wild fast, they have had no problems with them, only thing with 2 riders they can be unstable front end wants to come up can be dangerous.
my brother has a 500 Arctic cat TRV it has a longer wheel base and a little wider, for me its the best ATV for two riders and very smooth ride with allwheel independant suspension
I looked at one dealer who has the 650ccmodel for $9350 +++ winch included and extra warranty, you should drive both before buying if posible

I have a 500 Sportsman and really like it. Abuse anything and it will end up in the shop.

I rode my uncles 2006 polaris 500 efi browning edition this weekend. It's not a bad ride. i like our Outlander better though. I like the camo plastics and rims on the sportsman too.

Canam makes the best 2 seaters right now. So comfortable. The bike actually rides and preforms better with 2 ppl on it. the back seat is right above the rear wheels, lots of weight on the tires, makes for good traction :D

If you want a long lasting hard working, work horse, buy a honda. Most quads are relatively the same but each manufacturer makes small changes. Best advice would be to first ride all the machines you can. New or used doesn't matter. Next look at the "brochures" and decide which features you like best, go back and ride those machines that interest you again.
The polaris machines have awd so you don't have to switch from 2wd to 4wd and vice versa, which some people like. My Arctic Cat has a switch that is flipped in order to lock the front diff, while many other machines have a lever (similar to a brake lever) that has to be held to lock the diff so basically one hand is tied up holding that lever. In any event a 500cc class machine is all you really need unless you want to get into mud ridding, in which case bigger is better IMO.

If you are going to ride muskeg, the AWD of the Polaris I believe is the best system out there. The group that I ride with is 99% Polaris with the odd Outlander or AC thrown in. We ride them pretty hard and only have the expected troubles, mostly with CV boots. From any feedback I have heard, the X2 works very well. Haven't rode the Outlander Max but I certainly like the lighter weight of it compared to the Polaris. The 4wd just does not work as well IMO.
