Thinking about buying a high cap 45 for fun, and i was wondering if anyone owns or has experience with the Norc NP30 high-cap .45?

Like will regular 1911 barrels and upper slides fit? since it is a hi-cap frame?

On a budget to play with :)

Thank you for any info or stories you may have in advance.

I've been interested in this model for a while too. Can't wait to see some sage advice from the folks here, or at least the non norc haters.

FYI, I have a norc high cap 9mm. Put about 3000 rounds in her last year without a hitch. Everything works fine, pull trigger and it goes bang.

I tried one at the range that someone brought. Built like a tank, mags are not interchangeable with other makes. They seemed to bulge when loaded, making magazine insertion a bit slower. Trigger gritty. Finish very good. Lots of sharp edges. Rubber grips are the ####s. Same old Norc sights. Good for the money, but not worth adding parts to it. I presume the upper parts are standard, but really, there has to be an actual owner out there. BTW, those new single stacks are miles ahead. One of those were also at the range for comparison.

i have had one for a couple of years and can say its built like a brick s#$%t house. Did need a few rounds to go through to satr feeding properly but otherwise very well built particularly if you have bigger hands.
Easy to take apart like all other 1911s, some of the parts can use some polishing in terms of the smoothing out of the edges. As its milled and not cast, these norincos serve as the basis of many tricked out competition 1911s. I've left mine stock and just go to town at the range. trigger is a little heavy but once used to it they're great. Now mind you its not like a p345 or some of the higher ends but for the money its a fantastic buy with no headaches.

i have had one for about 7 years now, no problems at all
LOTS of rounds in it now- did a trigger job on it, and changed the wrap around grip, but overall, no problems

a friend of mine had one, he had nothing but probles with it, he spent over 300 dollars getting it milled, tuned up, new sights etc, and it still would not feed or work right, and the mags where nasty, I own a simple norc 1911 single stack and I have had no problems with it at all, just went out and got single stack 10 round mags, go look at my profile pic and see what i can do with it

Personally, I don't like double stack 1911's. That goes for the Norc versions as well as the Paras, etc. With a 10 round max mag there's just no point. Plus the wide body just doesn't fit me well. Too many years of single stack 1911's to change I guess.

NAA.

I've held a few double stack 1911's (2011's?) and found them to be too fat for my tastes. And this is from someone with big hands (Xlarge motorcycle gloves needed). I'd suggest stick with the single stack and get the extended 10 round mags. My single stack fits wonderfully with the now classic IPSC style hold. Hmm.... I'll have to try one handing it some day soon.

I have small hands, smaller than a small womans, and i adjsted my single stack 1911 to fit by getting some old wood grips and sdanding them down to fit

I purchased a comander length one a while back. Because its a forged then milled frame and slide as opposed to a MIM one like springfield's it has lots of sharp egdes. Dimensionally it checks out perfectly, and it shoots very well. I ended up doing a bobtail job on it, (had pic's of it on here once). Nice pistol, accurate and once i threw away the norc mags, very reliable. I've not tried thier double stack guns, as my hands don't like double stack 1911's but in general norcs are a good deal for the money. No resale value but fun blaster and good to tinker with if you want to try home smith work.

I guess it depends on what you are going to use it for. If it is for IDPA the gun has some problems. It comes with an extended slide release which is a no go in IDPA. One of our shooters is trying to find a slide release that conforms ti the rules and hasn't yet. The gun will make weight for ESP but you are up against 9MM guns wth less recoil.

The gun I had an opportunity to shoot hs a very gritty triger and poor sights. You can have a trigger job done on it and replace the sights but if yo are on a budget you might want to consider this additional cost in your initial budget.

The .45acp is not inexpensive to shoot unless you reload.

IF you are on a tight budget I would take a look at the Noinco NZ 85 or their Sig 226 copy both in 9MM. Both can be had for about the same money and would be cheaper to shoot. If you decide to play either of the two major shooting sports you will have a gun that will allow you to play.

Take Care

Thank you everyone for the info and advise..... now i am rethinking this, perhaps a single stack would do. I king of likt the nickel plating. Perhaps I can find one in Single stack nickel.

:agree: It's cool that they have all those pictures up and stuff but they're out of EVERYTHING I would even consider buying.

If they're still up there it's 'cause they intend to have them in stock again in the future. I can understand why a business would want to show potential customers what they intend to stock.

Bought the base model and I enjoy it a lot. Very well built although the finish is very rough. Easily customizable. You'll enjoy every penny of your investment in this toy.

:D

I'm receiving my Norinco 5.56 tomorow! Can't wait after 4 friggin months!
