I just picked up an RRA .223 LAR-15 from Questar and was wondering if it has a commercial or mil-spec sized buffer tube? I'm going to be away from the gun for a month otherwise I'd mic it myself but I see a stock I want to buy. Thanks guys!
Ok, this question is asked all the time and not everyone has calipers so I'll give you the easy way to tell, this way you'll know before you even buy it.
Look at the threads by the castle nut, if the rest of the buffer tube is the same diameter as the threaded portion it's a commercial tube. If the buffer tube is smaller than the outer diameter of the threads than it's mil-spec.
If I get real ambitious I might even post a couple of pictures later.
